Bakar Bakar--- the unstoppable fun
After a long gap of many years, I got to write something which really inspired me to do that.
I am not writing it just to write but this is quiet close to my heart.
Before going further let me just take back you to the times when this “Bakar Bakar” got evolved. It was one fine day in the canteen (The most of our clocking on the project goes here ) we all were sitting and forwarding some messages to each one individually and then arises the need of broadcast the message to

all, rightly said “Necessity is the mother of all inventions” and evolved the “Kabhi Kuch Kaam Karoge Ka” group which included all the members. Needless to say here that it was the group which was not gender biased, but again one necessity came and we invented “Bakar Bakar”, which was purely gender biased and no females were allowed in that group… ;).
I know whoever are reading this can very well understand the necessity of this group…
Nobody in the group knew that sooner the purpose of the Bakar Bakar will not remain only for the forward messages but will become a forum for pulling each other’s leg and also provide the platform to groom our hidden talents like Bakar Bakar, Reporting, Marketing, Cloud etc etc…
When I joined the project in month of September, I felt that this is gonna be very easy projects in terms of scope and complexity, but within month or so things have become upside down and whole concept of consulting went wrong… I definitely want to mention here that my team mates motivated me and told to repeat that I am a consultant in front of mirror several times which I did and really got relaxed.. I can say experience really teaches you many things and all my fellow buddies have might have learnt this thing hard way it seems… ;)
Here one unique thing has happened to me which I have not seen, inspite of consultants getting changed, I have seen Project Manager getting changed.. It was the first instance where I have seen such case.. Anyway both the managers have been wonderful and first project where I have seen the team appreciating them…
So we have as a standard practice which suggests some of the best processes in the world to client which I should say even we are not using… That’s the quality of consulting. So like every other project this project also had blue print which struggled for its existence in the end as it lost its identity and emerged as new “Avataar”. This was Project’s blueprint. We consultants are so obsessed with blue prints that we have created our own blueprints too.
So like every project this project was also very hectic and we struggled to spare time for ourselves and for refreshments, needless to say here another necessity has driven people together and we had fun and memories of life which I will be taking you all through, and here you go…..
One or the other day I always use to get the updates on Bakar Bakar about their where abouts, but I can bet that nobody would have got the dare to open the bakar bakar in public… In public or at home is the only time when we use to pray not to get any updates on Bakar Bakar else we loved it…
We arranged so many trips and so many parties which nobody has the count, but surely can say that Venky must have had the numbers on tips as he use to circulate the expense sheet after every party and trip which he has never received.. Sympathies for him, he sponsored quite a few entertainment of the group.
Guest house has become evident of liquor parties so much that if we could count on the liquor, it may cross the water bottles which comes to guest house… The best part was everybody drank blaming others, and that’s how this ok ok has emerged…. If I am ok venky is Ok, if Pawan is Ok I am ok, if Venky is Ok Sembian is Ok… Its OK OK OK OK and OK and everybody will find themselves having a patiala peg in their hands… This was such an amazing loop that we had the finest of the Abapers who also failed to break this code and they also have fallen in the trap… Thanks Adi, Venky and Shashikant for this debugging which has always given one result “Chaar Bottle Vodka”…
In Starting we use to have food outside and mostly without having it many a times we use to sleep, its not because we wanted to fill our stomachs with more and more drink but because our Super Cook Rajesh cooks such a curry that we never bothered him to prepare anything… I loved Poha Poori Bhajji, but after having these prepared by him, I realized that you should never fall for anything as your choices can be changed, and our cook had that quality of forcing you to think about it whether you really liked it or not.. Our cook was such a great consultant that we all learned from him how to sell even a thing which never exists…
The concept of outings emerged when our fellow team Member Ubaid was leaving from the Project, and we utilized his experience to the most.. Amazing barbeques, amazing plans. It happened once that we were just partying in Guest House and next day’s plan got materialized for having Barbeque with Vodka at Sinhgad. We started in night around 9 or so and everybody was thrilled to have the experience of homemade barbeque on the hill where u can feel the nature too, but this doesn’t end here as after driving for around 2 hours we reached Sinhgad entrance and the security refused.. We all were upset but the fun after we had made the saying true that whatever happens, happens for good..
We went to some lonely place, had barbeque there. There first time few hidden things emerged like Adi’s desire for chicken, Om’s after 12 fundas, Sembian and Navneet’s cigarette jugalbandi, Sudhakar’s reporting Venky’s Desire to explore the places.. It was awesome… while returning I just gave my car to Adi and slept in back seat, and woke up with horrible experience of sitting in formula one car… I dint dare to ask who is driving as everybody was terrified with their jaws dropped… It was our Vulture Man Madhu in Schumacher style, who was driving and we were going to Lonavala.
I was wondering as who in this world will go to Lonvala at 2 o clock in the night until we reached there. All my misconceptions about Lonvala changed when we saw the place full of crowd and partying like anything. It was chilled outside and only with little bit of Vodka remaining we survived… But thanks to Ubaid that wonderful unexplored place and the full night out we had, has become one of the best moments of our project.
Whenever there was a party in the guest house it always ended up with Maska Ban and Half fry in Midnight at station, I don’t know if Anna (Saravana is called Anna so in future references please relate) has got some commission from those owners there at station. Also I have to bring this to everybody’s notice that, once Anna left we never found those shops opened…
One thing which I am definitely gonna miss is those Badminton, Tennis, Gym, Swimming and all other sports which we use to play in the guest house and Balewadi stadium. It was ok ok here also which worked as if Venky was Ok I was ok for Lawn tennis and that is how we played and became quite fit in the span of only 2 months. I really have to thank Venky for bringing this sports concept in the larger than life living…
We all were surviving with snacks or food outside as having Rajesh’s food was a torture worse than our project, but I should be thankful to him as because of his quality food only we never had sensation to have food while we were on GM diet. Just to brief this, it also got evolved because of ok ok gang and we got huge benefit in terms of avoiding Rajesh’s food for one week… ;)
I have to give special thanks to Shobhana (Anna’s wife) and Spoorthy (Srikanth’s wife) for coming as savior. The days they stayed in guest house we had food carnival. It was awesome food we had that time. I think more than us, Rajesh has enjoyed as he dint have to do anything, but there also he never missed a chance of giving consulting… After having those feast days, it was really required to go on hibernation and hence got motivated for GM Diet.
This Project we all got so closer to even cab owners and Drivers that they took us to their village for a party, there we found backwaters and sugar cane farms where we had fresh sugar cane before jumping into the pond. Vamsi challenged Sembian for Swimming but never jumped into the pond….
First time in the history of geometric implementation, it happened that people left beers for food, don’t know whether the food was really good or it was the change we had from Guest House food….
We had full time fun and even played cricket in open farm in dim light. May be most of the team might have seen the farms first time but then it was amazing to have fresh Sugar Cane plucked from the field, thanks to Amol…
One trip which without mention here my blog cannot be completed was Mahabaleshwar trip. When we heard Ubaid was coming back, we couldn’t stop ourself from planning an outing and Ubaid also being fun loving guy made it happen. We have planned for Mahabaleshwar trip which gave so many memories that I can never forget throughout my life. Everything was planned over drinks the day before and next day was the execution day.
We planned to start early morning so that we can have breakfast there in Mapro Garden, but as usual all consultant’s are never a morning people got up late and started late. After reaching there in Mapro Garden, we realized after seeing the size of sandwiches that good we reached here in afternoon as those cannot be taken in breakfast (Size does matter ). It was the best sandwich and fruit crush with ice cream we had that day.. Here one thing which I missed to reveal was Ubaid’s driving. I was driving my car but seeing him driving was so thrilling that my heart started beating fast so I could imagine the conditions of people sitting in his car.
I could sense that people were awake because of his driving not because of the scenic beauty on the way.
After having that wonderful break we reached Mahabaleshwar, and there we planned for Boat ride. There was a huge Pond, in which you can hire a boat and have to row yourself. We strategically occupied one boat in which me, Navneet, Ubaid and Sembian sat and in other boat, it was Anna, Venky, Adi, Shobhana and Anupam. We took the advantage of Ubaid’s experience and rowed the boat very fast and reached to the middle. We could see the other boat struggling to move from the end only as there were more managers than consultants… But Sooner Adi took over and it was in control. We chilled out and returned back within half an hour (The permissible limit of the boat hired). After coming back we thought of sitting on the horse, as there were quite a few horses which were walking on the set track. We all dared to sit on the horse which walks on its own. Not only me, was everybody really frightened to sit on it.
They were given motivation of taking photos on those beautiful horses and also Geeta Gyan was given there to enjoy the life as and when it comes. There I know everybody would have remembered “You can win” and many more such motivational books… I sat on the horse and was remembering my god that, it should not be my last day and if it would be, then please give me some time to call everybody and say sorry for whatever wrong I have done to them and say thanks for being part of my life… With these thoughts in my mind I was on the horse alone and it started walking… Anupam and Venky were also there to join me… three horses were walking in the queue and everyone was holding it tight…
I heard Anupam talking to his horse that everyone was passing him so please walk fast… We were about to reach the destination with the grace of god, suddenly heard a guy crossing us riding the horse like a jockey… I felt this guy must be among the people who owns the horse until I came to know that it was Ubaid.
After finishing that walk Ubaid and the owner of the horses motivated us to have the horse ride the way Ubaid had.. I felt even in walking it was so horrible, if it runs gone… But I don’t know from where the dare came and I agreed to sit on the horse… The guy helped me in holding the horse and told me the posture to sit. I obeyed him like a kid until the horse started running, I lost all my senses and was wondering about my existence.. My goggles were falling down of my eyes, but couldn’t dare to hold it leaving one hand of the horse.
I had the feeling of embracing the horse and tell it to stop but to do that even I have to move a bit which was beyond my imagination that time… I felt all my pains whether it be ligament of Knee or Bulged Disk… But it was thrilling and amazing simply awesome ride. Those 10-15 seconds were like never stopping and seems like an hour. There I realized how difficult sometimes is to pass the time…
With Ubaid’s experience we had visited few wonderful points and did all the nonsense Masti whether it be leaning over the railing, sitting and taking photographs over the road, jumping out of the fence to take the pics, creating MMS to laugh a loud, having only starters which cost us even more than the lavish regular food etc etc…
While returning Shobhana and Anna were tired and slept, Adi was silent and I took the advantage of the situation and started asking about his “Sever Mood Off”, he also could not resist and told me the why he was upset but sorry guys I could have explained it if I would have understood it… the confusion was so much that even Anna and Shobhana got up… The discussion went on and finally I had to ask who I am. I don’t know but Adi went on happily and we all were confused… After that the concept of blue printing evolved.
The next party Adi was the target and we have drawn a chart of his confusion with all the links and concluded his love story which he revealed after few weeks that it was a myth there was nothing like temple 2 and back to square… Adi's confusion never ends and so our Masti…
It was amazing team and awesome wavelength between all. Whether it be nonsenses of Bakar Bakar between Pawan and rest, it be reporting of Sudhakar, Hectic work at Office, Emerging of new new Groups on whatsapp, Food at guest house, Blue Prints while drinking, Pulling each others leg, missing Shobhana and Spoorthy for such wonderful food they prepared, Srikant's wearing coolers in night, Sembians mentoring for drinks, Vivek's fatherly advices considering all as a family, Somebody's evolution, Navneet's Punches, Om's 12 o clock funda, Ubaid's barbeque and zeal for travel and fun, Adi's confusions, Anupam's FC road, Madhu's vultures, Shantanu's meetings, Arun's Antiquity, Anna's Maska Bun, Bhabani's arguements, Shashikant's late night whats app videos, Vamsi's cab,Spontaneous Lonavala Drives, Fortunate Audi Drive, Viraj's Tiffin and last but not the least Venky's sport love and OK OK...
I don’t have the words to say thanks to all who have given me the experience of life… Learned to live and enjoy life in any conditions. Learnt to embrace and grab the moment whichever comes to you and live it like it will never comes back… Special thanks to my dearest sweet heart Venky who has encouraged me to write it…
Thanks to all… The fun continues…
I am not writing it just to write but this is quiet close to my heart.

We must carry on the fun we had in the future also.. Amazing team ... Probably the best team I have ever worked with .....I guess the only event you missed live was the super bhang sessions...
ReplyDeleteActually I missed that, because of 2 reasons... One I actually missed it being a part of it and secondly.. confidentiality... ha ha ha ha.. :)
DeleteAgreed to Radha, we should have added Bhaang as well in this blog. What about Chotta Peg, Om Late, Me crushing with babes and making others jealous that only me had lot of opportunity to talk to Geometric girls, Leavers positive and negative comments, specific to Friday party even when Sembi not there (innovator), etc
ReplyDeleteWe forgot Viraj rowdiness, picking something @ railway stations like Muska Bun, Tea, Half Fry, Cool Drinks, etc
ReplyDeleteWow well written and superb memories. Forgot to mention Aadi s Chinese theories of identifying beautiful girls. and Kerala food.
ReplyDeleteGreat Sunil!!!
ReplyDeleteWell written .....and really we had good time there..
Now we are confused...whether you are team Lead or Consultant or Professional Writer :-)
